Video Marketing Concepts
Today I wanted to share with you how to use your camera to make your videos stand out from the crowd. If you haven’t visited my Video Marketing Tutorials yet, I show all of my video marketing tips including, video editing, capturing and uploading video, branding yourself, having a call to action to direct people to your website and much more…
So if you haven’t received your free video marketing tips go there now.
People have short attention spans so you need two things in your video to keep the viewers attention. First you need highly quality content that people can use in their daily lives. High quality content can include concepts that are entertaining, educational, and inspirational.
If you want to catch the readers attention and keep them coming back to your blog, or your videos, it is an absolute must to provide high value content.
The second thing that keeps the video viewers attention is having a visually stimulating video. That is what I’m going to be talking about today. I want to show you a video I did a few years back. It is about a minute and thirty seconds long. Be sure to watch the next video as well, as I break down some camera and video editing tips used in that video.
Video Marketing Example
Breaking it Down:
Video Marketing Camera Tips:
So what does it take to shoot a video appealing video. First thing you need to do is have your camera on you at all times. Great content sneaks up on you, and having a flip camera, or other video camera with you at all times is key.
Every time I edit a video, I like to add something interesting at the beginning to catch the person’s attention. I will use a 3 to 6 second clip to the beginning. It will put some wording over the top of that first clip to tell the reader what the video is about. I also add a few seconds of music.
While capturing these clips you can come at anyone scene from different angles. I like to pan left, pan right, pan up and down, and zoom. It is important when using any of these camera techniques that you keep the camera steady and moving slowly.
Editing Your Clips:
If you are going to use a clip in your video marketing videos, you want to make sure that when you edit that clip into your movie that you take care to edit the video properly. For example if you are going to use a pan or a zoom, you want to let the clip run for a second or two and then use that portion in your editing.
In other words when you start the zoom, it appears to be at a stop and then zooms in. Add the clip as it’s already in motion, not from the stop position. It may make more sense when you watch the tutorial video above.

You said it Eric. It’s all about good quality content. Content, Content, Content…Keep ‘em coming back for more. Whether it’s video, blog posts, articles, you name it…
From somebody who has very little experience in this field you made it sound simple. I especially liked the bit explaining how you can focus on the flowers and use that as an intro. Thanks and I’m looking forward to your video series.

Hi Nick,
Thanks for suggesting the idea of carrying my video camera around with me. Like a little notebook for writing down ideas, a video camera can come in very handy for capturing unexpected or surprise footage that could play into a future video. I have not reached the level yet you demonstrate here in terms of editing, but am aspiring to take my videos to the next level! I love video and am inspired by your teachings. Thanks!

Video is so important in creating our personal brand. I think a lot of new internet marketers are happy just to be able to do ANY video, get it on YouTube and transfer it to their blog or FaceBook.
But at some point in time, it’s a great idea to start getting a little more artsy, creative and sophisticated with our visual communications.
So I really appreciate learning these great ideas from one of the best… Thanks Nick.

O.K. Nick…Mission accomplished! You have successfully pushed me into another realm of video. I feel like a talking head when I do mine. Thank you so very much for this useful information. There are so many times I say “I wish I had my camera with me” when I see something spectacular. No excuses for me anymore. I have a flip camera so before I commented, I put it in my purse.
I am so grateful to you for this post.
