Whether you in the “Blogging For Beginners” category, or you have been been blogging for a while and consider yourself somewhat of an expert blogger…I have a question for you.
Do you have a subscription form, or opt-in box on your blog? Do you have a marketing funnel or auto-responder series built in with at least 3 weeks worth of valuable content? (6 months would be even better)
Why should you have an opt in box?
You worked hard to get a visitor to your blog. If you are writing valuable content on your blog, there is no reason why the reader wouldn’t want to come back everyday and see what else you can provide for them.
It is your OBLIGATION to make it easy for the reader to come back again and again to get the incredible value that you have to offer on your blog.
If you are not providing value to your readers, why do you have a blog? To make money? Well money is good and essential to do the things you want to do on a daily basis, but it should not be the primary reason why you are blogging.
“What did he just say?”… Well let me rephrase that…
There are people out there that want to have a blog to share their thoughts, their passions, and their interests. Most circles I run in do the same thing, but they monetize their passions. The secret is putting yourself in the readers shoes, providing value in their life, and getting people back to your blog on a daily or weekly basis.
What should you be offering in your opt-in box?
You can offer an unlimited number of items to monetize your blog on certain strategic areas on your blog. When it comes to your opt-box you should be providing information. The most effective word on the internet is “FREE.”
Offering Free information to your subscribers and providing 90-100% value is a great way to get repeat visitors. You want the reader to be anticipating your next email. With an avalanche of information on the internet, it is important to brand yourself as the main source of information regarding your niche.

I came online to research the Social Media Marketing industry. I soon realized that there was an entirely new world in front of my eyes that I never even knew existed!… The world of online marketing. Fortunately for me, I listened to my ‘inner voice’ and decided to get real training and coaching from some of the best internet marketers in the industry.
And because of the training I received and my iron clad commitment to success, I ended up for the first time having people begin to call me for advice, had people calling me to want to do joint ventures, and having people quit their other opportunities to partner with me. This has all given me a new hope and excitement, as I like much of the country have experienced cuts in pay in my career.
But I didn’t stop there… I fully realized that Internet marketing was all about building your own LIST, or your own personal following. I built up a brand for myself in the social networks, built my list, and because of that, was able to do something I had not been able to accomplish before (I earned over $1,000 in 72 hours during one recent promotion just by sending out a couple emails to my list).

Thank you Nick for explaining how important it is to have an opt-in box. I only have one right now, but am currently working to have my own. It is so important that people see this and realize its value.

With our busy lives, it is increasingly more important to make it as simple as possible when that person says “hmmm…this is good stuff. I would like to know more…HAY CHEESCAKE.”
You have to make it as easy as possible for them to opt in between that nano second of a thought and the cheescake

I just created a new opt in box and offer. I am working on the auto-responder piece. I will be also putting a call into Clifton. Great tips and a fabulous job on your video. I have Icontact and I don’t know all the differences between that and Aweber and Get Response. I’m sure I will learn.
I look forward to following your posts. Fabulous content.

Hi Nick,
I’ve read about Empowered Blogs from both you and Kary. At present, I am feeling that learning how it all goes together is more important than having it instantly set up and configured. But learning more reasons for the opt-in box and what can be done with it is priceless.
Thanks for the info,
Alan
