A Hidden Niche For Your Online Marketing Company

April 16th, 2010 by drjon

The Reality of the Online Marketing World

I heard some shocking statistics by watching a video from Mike Keonigs regarding an online survey of over 50,000 internet marketers.

  • 75% considered themselves advanced to intermediate marketers with their online marketing company.
  • 75% had been online marketing for over 2 years
  • And even after 2 years of marketing, most were earning less than $1000 per month

Something is wrong with this picture.  Those people surveyed are obviously highly skilled and underpaid.  I can relate to those statistics.  Can you?  We have the idea that the internet is so huge, just throw something out there and something will stick.  I’ve found that it takes a strategic plan of attack to succeed with your online marketing company.

Are You Treating Your Business Like a Business?

Empowered Tribe San Diego

I gave a presentation on Product Creation a few weeks back in San Diego.  In the introduction I asked the audience, “who is NOT in a network marketing company?”  A few people raised their hands.  I mentioned that it is possible that they have an advantage when it comes to the concepts revealed from the Empowered Tribe Live Event

Why do they have an advantage over the other attendees who are marketing  MLM?  Sometimes in the network marketing world we have blinders on.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with network marketing.  I happen to receive a nice residual income from 3 different companies.  BUT…

What do I mean by network marketers tend to have their blinders on?  Well, sometimes we make our the company we represent our identity.  Your company is YOU, Inc. not your network marketing company.  You are the product and you are the service that people will come to IF you have the knowledge and skills to make THEM successful in THEIR business.

Network Marketing is not the only game in town.  In fact it seems that everyone is associated with at least one company or another.  Nothing wrong with that.  But there are so many more profitable niches out there to take advantage of.

Are We Fishing in the Right Pond?

If you are reading this, I can safely assume you have some sort of online marketing knowledge and probably a great bit of skill.  Are you a statistic?  Plenty of skills without the bank account to reflect those skills?  I can empathize with that as I was in the exact same position until I started branching out and applying the knowledge and skills of the past years of online marketing experience, to other niches.

The Law of Compensation

While watching the Main Street Marketing Video from the creator of Traffic Geyser, Mike Koenigs, I was reminded of an idea I had a few years ago. If only I could take my online marketing knowledge and skills and take that to Brick and Mortar businesses who so desperately need it, I would be onto something.

What Kind of IMPACT Could You Have?

I was reminded that only 1 in 38 internet marketers is tapping into that wide open niche.

  • 50% of America’s Economy is supported by Small Business.
  • 46% of small business owners do not have a website
  • 60% of small business are spending the same amount on advertising as they did in 2008
  • 26% plan to spend more
  • 69% want to spend it on ONLINE MARKETING

The bottom line is, main street business is grossly under-served in the online marketing arena.  Small business owners are a different breed.  They spend most of their time and education on building a business and have very little knowledge or ability to market that business.  Most of their business is coming from word of mouth, walk ins, and outdated marketing avenues like the yellow pages.  They know that they need the internet but most are confused as to how to get their business out to local community through the internet.  That’s where you and I come in.  When you can find a need in the market place…FILL THAT NEED.

So what is the Problem?

Even though I had this great idea and had some skills to consult with Brick and Mortar and small business, how do you get in front of them to make and IMPACT on their world?  Mike Koenigs video really brought this home to me.  Check it out.  It makes sense to me.

How are you tapping into this niche, or how do you plan on tapping into this niche?  I’m looking forward to your comments.
